Classes

My classes are designed to teach a technique using one of my quilts as a starting point, rather then a scripted 'follow these tried and true directions' class.  My goal is to provide hands on guidance so that students can create their own interpretations of the quilts shown below.  Students are provided a line drawing as a launchpad, and then we work together during the class to make it their own.  Classes are one day and sewing machines are not required during class time.

Leave the machines at home and let's spend the day creating, fusing and having fun!  Then go home, ready and inspired to appliqué your wall hanging at your own pace.  I will discuss both appliqué and quilting techniques at the end of each class.  The full day classes are designed to run from 9am to 4pm, with 1 hour for lunch.

Optional additional days are available for those who wish to learn my appliqué or quilting technique in a hands on environment.

Lectures

I am available for trunk shows at your guild or group meeting, as well as virtually via Zoom.  Trunk shows include a 90 min presentation, that covers my quilting journey using quilts to tell the story.  I allow an additional 30 mins for a question and answer period.

Pathways

Learn to make a quilt with a twist, using a fusible interfacing base. That's right, we will use fusible interfacing to create your original quilt top.  The center of the top is completed, without sewing a stitch!!  Borders are optional, as I said it is your quilt, you decide!  The quilt is then sandwiched and quilted using either straight line, curvy or free motion quilting.  I will provide a template, you can follow it or modify it, to make it as original as you like.

FEARLESS QUILTING

Ready to take your quilt top to the next level?  Do the words “free motion” cause you to shake your head violently in a negative motion? Are you intrigued by all the texture other quilters add to their quilts? Then it is time to expand your repetroire and begin quilting fearlessly!   Using simple, fun exercises, let me help you overcome those fears and begin to master the world of a free motion quilting!

Skill level: Confident Beginner to Intermediate.

Masktime!

Masks have always been a great home decorative item.  People love to add them in many different rooms in their homes and often collect them as they travel.  Why not decorate with a mask you have made yourself?  I supply the patterns, you supply the colorful fabric and imagination.

No sewing machine is required for this class.  Use fusible web in class to create your quilt top, then appliqué and quilt it at home.

A PERFECT FINISH

You finished the quilt top, chosen backing fabric, sandwiched, basted and quilted. Now what? How do you give your quilt the perfect edge finish? Do you pipe it, bind it, face it, embellish it or what? In this class we will explore 5 different finishing techniques that can be done alone or in combination to find the perfect finish for your quilt, no matter what style of quilt you make.
